Summary

In this article the author told us that getting a good scanner is intelligent. To get a good scanner you have to ask yourself several questions before you buy it. Also, having a background of what kind you want to scan and how many times you think you will scan it will help you to know about the right type of scanner. The author mentioned that most people scan photos and documents, but there are more options such as books, business cards and magazines that some people need to scan. He also pointed to the less common options people use which are 3D objects. The writer said if you want to scan a photo or a 3D object you will need a Flatbed. Also, scanning these kinds of photos or stamps could damage the original. He suggested using protectors to save the original. Also, he said the plastic could demote the quality of a scanner even if it is a new version. The writer told us about another option for when you want to scan a document with one or two pages; you will choose a Sheet Feeder. The author said the process of opening the scanner and putting the paper is something usual, but repeats scanning more than one or two times is something boring. The third option the writer gave us is the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF). The ADF is to scan longer documents and it gives you time to do other work while the scanner scans. Also this type has the advantage that you can put more paper in when the scanner is working. The author told us if we want to scan both sides of one paper we need to use a Duplexing scanner because it includes objects doing this process. The Duplexing scanner is faster, and the price is higher. The writer mentioned that when we want to buy a scanner, we must pay attention to the resolution because there are some photos or documents that require more resolution. Also he told us about the size of what we want to scan and the system that can run the scanner. Most scanners work with any system and sometimes the system will be included with the scanner. In the end, the author added some kind of scanner that can scan without a computer.

Reaction

            The scanner is one of computer devices that are used to copy photos or documents we have to our computer. For me, I don’t see that the scanner has a lot of importance. I think it is the least used of all the devices that we sue with the computer or alone. During my study, I haven’t focused on the scanners, but I learn some advantages from them. I learn there are many kinds, versions and different brands of scanners. And each one of the scanners has a special way to scan paper. From this article I learn that we must know what we want to scan, and also what we will use this scanner for. One year ago, I bought a scanner, but I never asked myself what kind I needed. I was thinking that every scanner would scan my paper, but the difference was just on the version and brand. With time, I was needing some specific processes that my scanner didn’t do. I asked a computer expert about this problem and he suggested that I buy another scanner. When I read this article I know more information about every use has a special type of scanner. Also we need to ask ourselves what is the need is that we need from the scanner.

Summary

            In this article the author talked about a kind of storage device used with computer. This kind is Hard Disk. He pointed to the small size of this Hard Disk and said it is a blue color. He said that this Hard Disk - IDrive - contains backup for users. He pointed to a number of advantages: It is made from aluminum and it is light, so a person can carry it. Also the IDrive contains a number of vents that allow other devices to connect with it. The storage size is very large. It accepts storage of thousands of photos and hundreds of films. The writer mentioned that it is easy to use and easy to install. Also it is doing automatic backup of two basic folders in the computer: Documents folder and Desktop folder. It is possible for people to choose what folders they want to add to backup. It cannot back up copied programs, only open and safe programs. The writer mentioned that from the name of the IDrive it is clear that it is possible to make backup from the Internet in addition to coping files and programs that we have in the computers. Also, if storage space is not enough, the person can increase this space depending on what he needs. The writer talked about the performance of this device compared to other devices as an effective and fast. The author mentioned that if the storage space is the only important thing to the person, HP version has better price than IDrive. In the end the author said that IDrive is faster and it is useful for backup from the Internet.

            In the computer world we always need to the devices to store our data and files. Through my study of Computer Science there were a number of storage devices. Some of them are not effective and can be damaged. Others are sensitive to viruses. And some are strong and can store a large quantity of files. One of the best types of storage that I use is Hard Disk. It is a safe and large storage in addition, I can carry it everywhere. Through my experiences in these devices I think that every company has a quality because each company is making devices with different features. This kind which author talked about is good, but I see through my using that there are devices better than IDrive. The quality for me is the most important thing related to the device regardless of price or storage space. When we want to buy a Hard Disk, what we want is really a device that can save our information and data securely. I see that when a person wants to buy Hard Disk he/she must look to the quality and product system, then discover other features and compare them. But in the end the Hard Disk remains the best type of storage device of all kinds.

Summary

This article discusses the recent attacks that have happened on the Internet for a number of companies and individuals. The author pointed that there are certain parties that try to do this kind of attack on special computers to obtain information and documents. The author expects that some of the attackers have great power and some of them are ordinary people who sell this information and documents in the black market. Also he expects that the attacker is someone from the company who steals the information and sells it to a third party. The author talks about the ways and solutions that are necessary to protect the information. Also he tells us about the safety of these solutions and they will prevent the attacker from entering personal pages.

Reaction

            My major is Computer Science, so I’m very interested in reading about what happens in the computer world, what are the most important developments, what are the problems and what are the ways to solve these problems. In this article, I read about attacks, the largest and the most important problems in the internet and computer. People have been suffering from these attacks for a long time, but in fewer cases in smaller amounts. Because of the damage caused by these attacks, people start to find ways and solutions to stop these attacks. Some of these are not working and some are working like the solution that the author talks about in this article. This solution is using SecurID technique from RSA. My opinion as a Computer student is that it is a wonderful protection system because it is difficult for attackers to enter to the personal pages and steal information. I like this technique because it has a high level of protection which is to give a password using a one-time and change it every 60 seconds, which provides secure access to the resources. Through my study I noticed that as long as there are protection programs there are people who are able to break this protection. Therefore, there must be continuously updating of these protection programs. I see all companies must use technique like this to have Protection against unauthorized access.
