In my country where there is a party sometimes we asked the person how invite us what he/she want to bring it with us. Other times it is well known to take some dessert, cake, chocolate or something we made it in home by our self. And some people take a masterpiece for the home or flowers. Other people don't take something. I think it is better to take something even it is simple when someone invite you. For me, I love to take something I made it by myself.
